An estimated 25,000 people will head to Mystery Creek Events Centre on Friday 28 January 2011 to experience one of the largest music festivals in the Southern Hemisphere, the revered Parachute Music Festival.
Over the four days of Parachute, crowds will be entertained by over 100 international and national artists. Headlining acts include; Chris Tomlin, Skillet, Stan Walker, Elemeno P, Manafest and The Lads. To allow more people to view the most popular bands, the large grandstand in front of the Mainstage has been extended. The worldwide release of Parachute Band’s new album, ‘Love Without Measure’, is also set to début on the Mainstage during the Sunday evening of the festival.
2011 will mark the eighth year that the Parachute Music Festival has been held at Mystery Creek Events Centre. Year after year, the collaborative team consistently improves the event and continues to impress. There are many exciting changes and extras at this year’s event, guaranteed to keep everyone entertained. A favourite feature at Parachute, the waterslide, is bigger and better than ever and is the largest inflatable waterslide in the world. Other anticipated additions include; volleyball, paintball, picnics, a barn dance and a larger village area to provide extra food and market stalls.
By hosting the Scout Jamboree prior to the Parachute Music Festival, the Mystery Creek Events Centre team has been kept extremely busy throughout the holiday period. Since both large events have similar site layouts, it has enabled set up to dovetail into each other, benefitting both events.
“Mystery Creek Events Centre is constantly improving both our infrastructure and our event management personnel”, explains Vanessa Richmond, Events Manager. “We are proud to be the only events centre in New Zealand that can accommodate 20,000 campers with showers, flushing toilets and all necessary amenities to reside onsite. Having over 92 hectares of land sets us apart from many other venues and naturally lends itself for super sized events, like Parachute.”
The purpose built facility has been constructed with the premise of holding and hosting full site events, in particular outdoor concerts and exhibitions.
“Mystery Creek Events Centre is the ideal venue for the Parachute Music Festival and our own brand new event RetroFest, to be held in March 2012,” agrees Vanessa Richmond. “The retro music festival will also allow concert goers to camp over three days to fully immerse themselves in the post modern era”.
